This is the type of place I imagine Ernest Hemingway would find to lay low for a while. A little weathered, which gives it character. Near the airport. Friendly staff. A block from the beach. Yet feels off the beaten path. Reasonably priced. And their café downstairs is the perfect place to get some work done. Not a party island - it was kind of desolate, which is exactly what I was looking for -- this is a good, spend-some-quiet-time-by-yourself type of place. BOLO for dogs on the southeast side of the island...I found them at 6 AM running, and they were none too happy I was passing through. You also will have to go into town to find groceries, etc. Saúde! ~ Phil

We have been going to this hotel since 2004, and have never been disappointed, or had cause to complain. In our opinion, this hotel is perfectly located: get off the plane, onto a bus or in a taxi, and head for the beach. 5 minutes later, you are at the hotel. The taxi costs approximately 10 euros. It's also a short walk to the ferry, which takes you across the rio formosa to the town centre. The ferry runs approximately every 30 minutes and a return fare is 3.75 euros. The hotel itself is clean, friendly, excellent value and the food is extremely good, although I found the dessert portion to be too large for me. The only issue on this visit was that there was building work taking place on the bridge near the hotel. Had we known about this, we would have packed earplugs. Not the fault of the hotel though, and we will definitely be back. ~ Sue W

Ik vond dit echt een top hotel. De locatie is geweldig, aan het strand. Het ontbijt is wel wat karig maar acceptabel. De kamers waren wat ouderwets ingericht maar prima genoeg. De receptiemedewerkers waren zeer behulpzaam. Wij hebben voor weinig geld (weet het niet meer) een fiets kunnen huren en hebben we de omgeving verkend. De ferry naar Faro zit vlakbij en is echt een aanrader. Wij komen hier weer een keer terug! ~ Suzanne d
